Raging bush fires leave deep scars in the Victorian landscape, followed by flooding rains that inundate vast parts of the east. These events are not new to our land, bush fires, floods and droughts are part of Australia’s makeup — but the extreme contrast, severity and scale of these unnerving string of events, occurring in what appears to be a relatively short space in time, inspired this work. It was selected as a finalist in the Prometheus Visual Art Award, Brisbane in 2011.
