White Bay Power Station
(solo exhibition 2016)

Paintings from my White Bay Power Station
exhibition – plus an oldie (my very first WB painting!)

Abandoned in 1983, but soon to be reborn, the original purpose of White Bay power station has long expired,
but I have been fascinated by and painted this crumbling
and awesome structure since 2009. Once marked the
gateway to Balmain’s busy industrial waterfront and,
understandably, its gigantic physical presence ensured it
became a landmark — a quality it still retains.
These paintings are of something that will soon be gone.
Good or bad, White Bay power station will always remain
a part of Sydney’s industrial waterfront history.
