  • "Rounding the Organ Pipes" 76 x 101cm 2024. Maxi yacht "Whisper" rounds the bend at Cape Raoul into the mouth of the River Derwent and heads Hobart way, finishing the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race in 2022. The seas here are breathtaking, but more often dominated by large waves and swirling unpredictable, dangerous seas, but on this day the conditions were perfect!

  • "Ballast Point to Barangaroo" 2020. Oil on canvas, 31x53cm. Early morning and late afternoon light come together to give this pocket of the Balmain peninsula a feeling of intimacy. Tucked under the skyline, the pretty workshop buildings look so small, but they were once a major maritime center for the Adelaide Steamship Company. A day after this work was finished, the outer glass shell was installed on the Barangaroo tower.
  • "Waterview Wharf Workshops" - oil. Framed 33 x 33cm. Sitting on the edge of Mort Bay in Balmain East, the workshops were built in 1900 by the Adelaide Steamship Company as the maintenance and a repair base for their fleet. A large wharf was constructed to tie up vessels alongside the buildings so machinery could be removed to the various workshops, each one occupied by a different specialist trade. Sold in 1964 and looking rather tired, then from 1979-86 the buildings were inhabited by artists. Now restored in colours that have a smart Scandinavian look, they are a Balmain showpiece shining in the afternoon light.

  • Nicholson Street School. 2021 oil on canvas 15x15cm. This School has been an integral part of the Balmain Peninsula since its foundation in 1883. The building was conceived in the time of rich Victorian decoration, but young architect William Kemp (a student of Edmund Blacket) refused to indulge in "fussy, useless ornamentation" and designed a School of clean lines, simple shapes and honest use of warm Sydney sandstone. When the children moved into the new school on 5 May 1884, the Infants numbered 38 boys and 29 girls while the Primary had 156 and 104. SOLD
