This was the last of three paintings in this series. On an overcast September afternoon on Australia’s east coast, the sea was angrily pounding away at the rocks making the patterns created by swiftly moving frothy waves hypnotic. Odd glimpses of sunshine revealed striking colours against the wet, black rocks. Rich colours and hard surfaces in the foreground made an interesting contrast with the softness of the calm sea beyond. Original painting : Private collection.
