White Bay Power Station (2016)

45 x 100 cm – $550.00 AUD
76 x 228 cm – $1250.00 AUD  (original artwork size)

Soon to undergo major change, White Bay Power Station is the last remaining example of a coal-dependent, harbour side industrial complex. Abandoned in 1983, its original purpose has long expired but it once marked the gateway to Balmain’s bustling industrial waterfront. Its gigantic physical presence ensured it became a landmark — a quality it still retains.
This section of the immense structure was constructed in typical Federation Anglo-Dutch architectural style, between 1912 and 1917, to supply power to the Sydney railway and tramway system. Original painting (tryptich) : Available.
